EFMF

Every year since HB was born (2010) we have taken him to the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. The first year, we were tired and so Baba came to look after him, but we ended up taking him Sunday because we realized everyone had kids there! After a brief stint close to the stage (my first EFMF) we moved our tarp to the top of the hill and have never looked back. We took the stroller and kiddo slept most of the night- enjoying Ben Harper and Colin Hay under the stars. Fast forward to 2011 where he was slightly mobile but too chubby to walk around or crawl much we brought him again and he fell asleep to Lyle Lovett and K.D. Lang (my favourite year so far). This year brought us Corb Lund, Barr Brothers, Arrested Development and Bonnie Raitt. He is a bit more adventurous this year so we brought the tent and set it up on the top of the hill and there was a big patch of grass in front of our tent for him and the neighbouring tarps kids to whirl their glowsticks to the melodies floating up the hill. What an amazing festival. I hope to make it a family tradition for years to come!

So the beginning was almost the end. I had forgotten totally about this eager initiative that I must have had in a desperate grasp to not forget everything about my son's first years. Well let's keep this up shall we?
